Acommodations

DeathCon will be occurring on the picturesque Forestburg Scout Reservation. Placed directly by Hope Lake, this campground has modern amenities while still providing access to forest, woodlands, fields, and waterfalls.

While this site is normally used for Dystopia Rising: New York, the various in-character site areas have changed in order to represent being a new settlement.

Cabin availability

Cabins are readily available for both in-character and out-of-character sleeping, and are marked on the map. Most cabins have ready access to electricity.

If you need to not be interrupted during sleep for medical or other reasons, we recommend that you choose out-of-character sleeping, or plan to tent during the weekend. If you need access to electricity for medical reasons, please email info@dystopiarisingny.com to notify us ahead of time, and we will reach out to you with accommodations.

Cabins and beds are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis, and you cannot hold beds for friends. In all, we have about 150 bunks available for participants in this event.

Tenting

Forestburg Scout Reservation has tent platforms with tents already set up on them, along with “beds” placed on the platforms. Tents encampments are near outhouses, though full bathrooms and showers can readily be found next to the main cabin areas.

Due to the volume of individuals expected for this event, we are offering a special incentive for those who choose tent camping. Those who choose tent camping will receive a special plot note that gives them one-on-one access to one of the named NPCs we have at the event. This may result in favors, a special scene, or information that may help you in play.

Travel

The three closest major airports to Forestburg Scout Reservation are Newark Liberty International Airport (1 hour, 50 minutes drive away), LaGuardia Airport (2 hours drive away), and John F. Kennedy International Airport (2 hours, 10 minutes drive).

The closest train station to site is Port Jervis (18 minute drive).

We highly recommend reaching out to carpool with friends. There is a dedicated local player base not only in New York City, but also in the surrounding areas. With that in mind, we’ve started up a Discord channel where you can organize ride shares.

We also have a scheduled shuttle leaving from Port Jervis for those that come in by train on Friday between the hours of 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. In order to arrange for the shuttle to be there when you arrive, reach out via email at info@dystopiarisingny.com with your train’s arrival time at least four days before the event.
