WElcome to Deathcon
This is where your character’s story begins

The world died hundreds of years ago, succumbing to a fungal Infection that caused humanity to mutate. Now, in this post-apocalyptic world where the dead walk and where Raiders kill, Strains must work together in order to survive.

Getting Started

What to Wear
Costuming is a big part of portraying your character. After creating your character concept, think of how they may survive in the post-apocalypse. Incorporate pieces that represents them the best. If they’re a mercenary, then you may want to include rusted armor made of license plates. If they’re a scavenger, you may want to include well-worn bags and pouches for quick storage. If they’re a medic, then bring along stained bandages and fake syringes.
If you’re not sure where to begin, check out the slideshow below for costume inspiration. Aim for stained, rugged, and piecemeal. We also highly recommend looking at tutorials from Nuclear Snail Studios for extra tips.

What to Bring
Make sure to bring everything you’d need for a camping trip, including bedding, toiletries, bug spray, extra changes of clothes, your character’s costuming, and food if you have not signed up for the meal plan. What to Expect
Expect an action-packed weekend where you immerse yourself in the post-apocalyptic world of Dystopia Rising. Aim to stay in-character at all times, and don’t be afraid to talk to other participants as the character that you’ve created.
You will experience simulated combat, opportunities to act and role-play with a colorful cast of characters, live entertainment, and chances to affect the plot running through the weekend by using your wits and the framework of mechanics. You’ll also be part of a NPC shift where you’ll be given characters to act as and portray in the world.
Remember that you control your character, so engage as much or as little as you’d like in everything that’s going on. If you need help getting involved during the weekend, visit Logistics, and we will hook you into plot and story.
