We Heard You’re Hungry: The Meal Plan
Today, we’re taking a moment to talk about food at DeathCon and, in particular, the meal plan! You want to be sure you’re eating and drinking during the event, and the meal plan is a great way to do just that.
Food on Site
First of all, we’re going to talk about food on site. This is a campsite, which means that there are raccoons, possums, chipmunks, and other animals that want to EAT YOUR FOOD if you’re not watching it. With that in mind, food needs to be stored in a secure container, preferably at Ops in the kitchen. There is limited fridge space available, so make sure that you keep things tight and contained if you need the fridge. If you have medications that need to be kept cool, please contact info@dystopiarisingny.com and we’ll make sure you have space (we just like a heads up ahead of time). We also recommend labeling your food bag in case it looks similar to someone else’s.
Ops and the kitchen are both out-of-character spaces near the out-of-character sleeping area, and this region is a great place to get a bite, relax, and hang out for a bit before going back to game. Keep in mind that kitchen use is restricted to storage, so if you’re packing your own food, you’ll want to be sure it doesn’t require prep work.
Ops is running in the same building as the kitchen. With that in mind, we ask that all participants use the side door to the kitchen (clearly marked), grab their food, and then head on out rather than lingering in Ops itself.
If you are bringing food into the in-character space, we ask that you hide labels and remove packaging. Our goal is to have the world look as genre as possible, so break out those cans, metal cutlery, and tin cups if you’re bringing your food into an in-character space.
The Meal Plan
Of course, if you don’t want the hassle of dealing with storing food, then there is also the Meal Plan! This is a great option for anyone who just wants to show up to grab their food without needing to worry about storage or preparation. You’ll be able to pick up your food at meal times. If you miss the window: don’t worry! Your food will be clearly labeled with your name in the fridge.
The meal plan will be available for purchase once tickets go on sale March 19.
Breakfast Box
Each meal plan gets a breakfast box with three bags of cold cereal, a banana, an orange and an apple. Cereal will likely be Fruit Loops and/or Captain Crunch.
